MacBook Pro and iPad Pro with M5 processor are coming
Apple to unveil M5-powered MacBook Pro and iPad Pro this fall
Apple had taken an unusual step by introducing the M4 chip in iPads before bringing it to Mac computers. The M4 iPad Pro was launched in May 2024, but M4-powered Macs were delayed significantly.
This year, Apple is expected to avoid such delays by launching both the new iPad Pro and MacBook Pro with M5 chips simultaneously this fall — a rare move for the company.
According to previous patterns, M5 MacBook Pro, M5 Pro MacBook Pro, and M5 Max MacBook Pro will likely be announced in October or November. At the same time, Apple Studio Display may also receive an update.
The only major change in this year’s MacBook Pro will be the M5 processor. New designs, OLED displays, and other significant improvements are reserved for the M6 models. Likewise, iPad Pro is not expected to undergo significant design changes apart from the processor.
Current forecasts suggest that MacBook Pro and iPad Pro will be the only new devices featuring the M5 chip this year. More Macs with M5 are expected to launch in early 2026 and beyond.
