Vision Air and Glasses from Apple: Coming in 2027!

Apple plans 2027 launch for Vision Air and Apple Glasses

Apple is moving forward with its ambitious augmented and mixed reality roadmap. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company is developing seven different head-worn devices, grouped under Vision series and Apple Glasses. Five projects are already scheduled, while two remain in early stages.

An upgraded version of the current Vision Pro, codenamed “M5”, is set to enter production in Q3 2025, with projected sales of 150,000 to 200,000 units by the end of the year.

Next in line is Vision Air, a lighter and more affordable model expected to enter mass production in 2027. It will be 40% lighter than Vision Pro, using plastic and magnesium alloy instead of titanium and glass. It will feature fewer sensors, powered by the most advanced iPhone chipset.

The second-gen Vision Pro is set for a 2028 release, featuring a completely new design, reduced weight and price, and a Mac-level processor.

In the Apple Glasses segment, the first model has been postponed to Q2 2027, aiming for 3 to 5 million annual shipments. Features include voice commands, gesture controls, AI-based environmental sensing, and media recording.

Additionally, Apple is developing two display-equipped glasses for 2028. One model will combine LCoS and waveguide technologies, while the second remains undisclosed.

Though late to the market, Apple is not falling behind. Kuo predicts Apple will dominate the AR market starting in 2027, with smart glasses shipments surpassing 10 million units annually.
